Wool Sculpture
Wool Sculpture is a new art form developed by Raven that combines the tools and basic techniques of needle or dry felting with the methodology of clay sculpture. Starting with a basic wool "pod" made by needle felting a rough shape Raven then builds the piece up layer by layer just as you would with clay but using the felting needle instead of pressure from her hands. The result is a sculpture that is more solid and integrated than you would get by simple needle felting. Using Raven's techniques the size limitations of needle felted pieces are no longer an issue and unlike many needle felted pieces there is no internal frame or structure other than the wool.
